One Dead, Five Injured Following An Overnight Shooting In Mattapan

MATTAPAN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in Mattapan overnight that left one person dead and several others wounded.

Boston Police Department said officers responded to a call about a shooter at 27 Irma Street at about 12:30 am on Monday. On arrival they found an adult female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers found two other victims suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. Further investigation revealed three additional victims brought themselves to nearby hospitals, all suffering from non-life-threatening injuries as well, brining ringing the total number of wounded individuals to five.

This marks the third violent fatality in the city since Friday, police said.

BPD shut down the area to look for evidence and are continuing to look for the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident. They are asking anyone with relative information to contact Boston Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470.
