One Dead, Several Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash In Dorchester

DORCHESTER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A woman from Dennis was killed in a multiple-vehicle crash in Dorchester Saturday evening, State Police confirmed.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Troopers responded to the crash on Route 39 northbound near Exit 14 at around 7:40 p.m. Saturday.

Preliminary investigation suggests the driver of a Nissan, later identified as 39-year-old Ashley Rose Jimenez of Dennis, had struck the traffic barrier attenuator at Edit 14, went out of control and struck an ambulance that was transporting a patient.

Three other vehicles were also involved in the crash after the initial collision. MSP said Jimenez sustained severe injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene by Boston EMS.

Four other people from the crash were transported to Boston Medical Center with minor injuries: the two Brewster EMS medics, both males, the female patient they were transporting, and a man who was driving one of the other vehicles involved.

Earlier on Saturday, the State Police-Norwell Barracks had received reports of a vehicle matching the description of the Nissan that was being operated erratically on Route 3. After the fatal collision with the ambulance, Troopers located small alcohol bottles, both opened and closed, inside the car.

The facts and circumstances of the crash, including why Jimenez struck the attenuator and lost control of the car, remain under investigation by State Police.
