LYNN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey signed the Fiscal Year 2025 state budget on Monday, which includes legalizing online lottery sales in the state.
Revenue from online lottery sales will support a grant program for early childhood education and care.
Opinions on the announcement were mixed in Lynn. "I don't like any type of gambling," said one resident. "It's just like drugs and alcohol."
But another said he approved of online lottery sales in the state. "I think it's ok that people have more opportunity to play."
Online lottery sales aren't expected to be offered until late next year, and only those 21 years old and older can play.
