DEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Opening statements are set to begin Monday in the trial of Brian Walshe, the Cohasset man accused of killing and dismembering his wife, Ana.
Walshe has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. Last month, he pleaded guilty to the lesser charges of misleading police and willfully conveying a human body.
Ana Walshe disappeared on Jan. 1, 2023. She was last seen at a New Year's Eve dinner party at the couple's home. Her body has never been found.
Brian Walshe told police that his wife went to the airport to fly to Washington D.C. for a work emergency, but investigators said there are no records of Ana doing so.
After Ana's disappearance, prosecutors allege, Walshe made several Google searches on an iPad that included "dismemberment and best ways to dispose of a body" and "how long before a body starts to smell."
Walshe was also allegedly caught on surveillance footage buying cleaning supplies and later disposing several trash bags into a dumpster.
The trial is taking place at Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham. If Walshe is found guilty of first-degree murder, he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.
