QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A beloved Irish pub in downtown Quincy will close its doors later this month.
Gerry Hanley, owner of Paddy Barry's at 1574 Hancock St., announced on Facebook Monday that last call will be Saturday, April 19.

"It is with a heavy heart we announce that after 27 years Paddy Barrys is closing," the post read. "All things must pass."
The announcement comes amid a long fight between Hanley and the pub's landlord, LBC Boston, over the pub's eviction. LBC Boston bought the building in 2020 and announced plans to demolish it for apartment and retail space development.
Hanley said in a May 2024 Facebook post that Paddy Barry's exercised a five-year lease extension starting on June 1, 2024, but LBC Boston refused to acknowledged its validity. Hanley later sued LBC Boston in Dedham Superior Court, claiming breach of contract. The case remains pending.
Meanwhile, locals who wet their whistle at Paddy Barry's are sad about its upcoming closure.
"All that was nice drinks, nice food. It was all good," Heath told WBZ NewsRadio Friday.
"It’s terrible. It’s lousy," said Catheline. "Everything is overbuilt, it’s too much. There’s no more neighborhood anything anymore, it stinks."
