BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A heartwarming meetup for riders partaking in August’s Pan-Mass Challenge Saturday at Fenway Park.

This is part of the organization’s Pedal Partners program, where riders get to connect with pediatric cancer patients and families from the Dana Farber and Jimmy Fund, including Jonathan Boxill’s family.

Boxill told WBZ NewsRadio that his family was forever changed when his youngest daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December.

“We were very fortunate that we were able to get ahead of it, and they were able to remove a hundred percent of it,” he said, adding that he will be one of the hundreds of riders that will pedal more than 160 miles from Wellesley to Cape Cod to fight cancer.

The Pan Mass Challenge is one of the largest cancer research fundraisers, and Katie Iwanowics, with the organization, said that the work of the nonprofit stretches beyond Massachusetts borders.

“At Dana Farber, they say the work that they do there impacts lives everywhere so we’re really making global change here,” she said.
