BARNSTABLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Independence Day is less than two weeks away and Cape Cod's largest town will be celebrating all weekend with multiple parades, contests, and events.
If you're looking to celebrate Fourth of July weekend on Cape Cod this year, the town of Barnstable has you covered. Parades, house decorating contests, dance competitions and more will take place across all seven of the town's villages that weekend.
On Friday, July 2, golf carts, fire trucks, kids on bikes and antique cars will turn out for the annual Wianno July 4th parade in Osterville.
On Sunday, a parade and house decorating contest kicks off in West Barnstable, followed by parades throughout the day in Centerville, Cotuit and Hyannis Port.
The Independence Day spirit will be brought onto the water for a boat parade in Hyannis Harbor later that afternoon.
After that, there will be live music on Main Street in downtown Hyannis and family friendly activities on the waterfront, all afternoon and evening.
At 9 p.m. Sunday night, a big fireworks show can be seen over Hyannis Harbor.
