HINGHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — While some parents are hoping for some rest and relaxation during their Christmas vacation, they also know they have to plan activities for the kids.

Tina has three daughters, all under the age of 10. She was at the Derby Street Shops in Hingham on Monday, getting Christmas activities and treats for her kids.

"We're going to have to do a lot more coloring books," she said.

She also has a few trips planned next week to Blue Hill and Wachusset to keep the kids active.

"They get to have that break and enjoy a little bit of activities they can do outside."

Meantime, some kids who were with their parents at the Derby Street Shops said they were dong their own planning.

"Card games and I've been cleaning my room and playing in the snow," said Lisa.

She hopes she will be able to go sledding as Bay Staters prepare for snow before Christmas.

Other moms said their kids are going to help with chores around the house.

"Trying to incorporate household stuff," one mom said.
