Part Of N.H. Beach Is Closed After Truck Crashes, Burst Into Flames

RYE, New Hampshire. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A part of Wallis Sands State Beach has been temporarily closed after a crash on Sunday morning.

Rye Police closed a section of the beach in case of possible debris in the sand.

At around 5:30 a.m., Rye Police and Fire Departments were sent to Wallis Sands State Park after getting reports of a vehicle on fire after a crash, police said.

Police found a 2023 Ford F-150 pickup truck about 100 feet below the roadway on the sand at Wallis Sands State Park.

One person was involved in the accident. They were transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital to be treated for injuries, officials said.

"Speed appears to be a factor according to a witness," Rye Police said.

Beachgoers are asked to check in with the lifeguards to find out which beaches are available to swim.
