BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Orange Line service between North Station and Forest Hills is suspended until Sunday, Nov. 2.

The MBTA says this is due to ongoing signal upgrade and modernization works on the line.

In a statement, the transit system says the upgrades will “significantly increase operational efficiency and improve scheduling reliability for riders.”

Shuttle buses are replacing train service, making all stops between Forest Hills and Back Bay.

However, shuttle bus service will not continue downtown between Back Bay and North Station. Instead, the MBTA recommends riders should transfer to the Green Line at either North Station or Copley. Service on the Green Line will be increased during the Orange Line shutdown.

The next Orange Line suspension is scheduled on the weekend of Nov. 14 – 16 between Back Bay and Forest Hills. Starting Friday, November 14, the Orange Line will be closed at approximately 8:30 p.m. and will remain closed through Saturday, Nov. 15 and Sunday, November 16.
