BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Long-time New England Patriots safety Patrick Chung is facing drug charges in New Hampshire.
The Belknap County Attorney's office said in a statement that Meredith, New Hampshire Police found cocaine in Chung's home after they went there on a service call on June 25.
Chung was not arrested at the time, but was indicted on August 8. He's charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug, a class B felony.
In a statement, the Patriots said, "We are aware of the reports regarding Patrick Chung. We will not be commenting while his judicial proceedings take place."
Chung is scheduled to be in court next Wednesday morning.
The news broke as the Patriots readied to play their first preseason game Thursday night in Foxboro against the Carolina Panthers. It wasn't yet clear if Chung would be on the field.
Chung won three Super Bowl rings with the Patriots and has spent most of his career in New England, with the exception of one season in Philadelphia.
