QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A New England Patriots captain is facing several charges after being arrested on Saturday.
According to Braintree Police, 29-year-old Jabrill Peppers was arrested early Saturday morning after an alleged domestic altercation between two people. Police say a victim received treatment at the scene, but would not identify where the incident took place.
On Monday morning, Peppers pled not guilty to all charges at his arraignment in Quincy District Court. The charges include, Assault and Battery, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Strangulation and Possession of a Class “B” Substance, which police believed to be cocaine.
Peppers posted his $2,500 bail and was ordered not to contact the alleged victim. His next court date was scheduled for Nov. 22nd at 9:00 a.m., but he is not required to attend.
The Patriots issued a statement about the arrest on Monday morning.
“We are aware of an incident involving Jabrill Peppers over the weekend in which the police are currently investigating. We will have no further comment at this time,” said the Patriots in a statement.
Peppers did not play in the team’s game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, though Head Coach Jerrod Mayo said that was because Peppers was injured. At a press conference on Monday, Mayo said the team should learn more information “over the next few days.”
