BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are warming up for yet another Super Bowl, one of their old team mates is getting ready to cheer them on from home.
New England Patriots Captain Matthew Slater spent his Sunday morning greeting 76 healthcare workers as they headed south for the Super Bowl on the Patriots' plane.

Slater said he's proud of his old buddies Brady and Gronk, who play in Super Bowl LV with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.
"I love those guys, they've been great friends of mine beyond the game of football," Slater said. "I'm so happy for everything they've been able to accomplish."
Slater has more than a decade dominating the AFC East with Brady and Gronk. He isn't always in the Hollywood spotlight like the other two, but after being picked for the Pro Bowl nine times, he's proven himself to be one of the Patriots' best players.
When Slater, Brady and Gronk played together, they made it to the Super Bowl five times, winning three. Slater said the kind of friendship that comes from an experience like that isn't easily shaken.
"I'm really proud of them," he said, "and I wish them all the best today."
Super Bowl LV between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicks off Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in Tampa Fla., where Brady and Gronkowski will play in their first Super Bowl since leaving the New England Patriots in 2019.
