LEXINGTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Marking the battle where the first patriots fell in the Revolutionary War, the town of Lexington put on a slew of events for Patriots' Day including a 5k road race, musical performances, battle reenactments, and of course, the Lexington Patriots' Day Parade.
WBZ's Suzanne Sausville was there for the parade on Massachusetts Avenue, where thousands were lined up despite the heavy rain on Monday.
"Plain insanity being in the rain, us sitting in the rain," one onlooker said.
Thelma Goldberg with the dancers says there's a crew to help entertain those waiting for the parade to pass by.
"So the Minutemen come after us and we go out early and we dance, we stop, we dance— they know the parade is coming. When they see us they knew the parade is coming right after us," Goldberg said.
After that, it's all bagpipes, drums, and musket firing.
LexMedia posted a YouTube video previewing the events in store for Patriots' Day.
