Patriots' Gronkowski Announces Retirement

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — In an Instagram post Sunday evening, Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski announced he was retiring from the NFL.

Gronkowski was drafted in 2010 to the Patriots when he was 20 years old. In the post, Gronkowski said he was "grateful for the opportunity" from Patriots' owner Robert Kraft and Coach Bill Belichick.

"It was truly an incredible honor to play for such a great established organization and able to come in to continue and contribute to keep building success," Gronkowski wrote in the post.

According to the NFL, Gronkowski ends his career with 521 receptions, 7,861 receiving yards, and 79 touchdowns.
