Pats Fans React To Missing Chance For Playoffs

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Patriots fans are waking up with an unfamiliar feeling this morning after Sunday's game.

It's the first time in two decades where the team has failed to make it to the playoffs. The team lost 22 to 12 in the final score against the Miami Dolphins, and fans have mixed reactions.

One fan, Jimmy from Natick, saw this result coming.

"Oh we've been spoiled for a long time," he said. "It was well overdue — a couple of bad decisions the past couple years. Losing Brady, trading Garoppolo, the writing was on the wall."

Several fans commented on the loss of Brady as the root cause of this season's performance, while others mentioned current quarterback Cam Newton.

"There's no excuse for it," Robert from Milton said. "I expected more from Newton."

But if there ever was a season for the Patriots to play poorly, it might as well be the one without fans at Gillette stadium.

To finish out the regular season the team will host the AFC East-champion Buffalo Bills next week on Monday and take on the Jets at home in Week 17.
