SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Market Basket grocery stores are fully operational after experiencing problems with processing payments at locations statewide Wednesday.

"Due to a service disruption by a third party vendor, some locations are experiencing intermittent delays in transaction processing," a spokesperson told WBZ NewsRadio shortly after noon. Customers at the Market Basket in Union Square in Somerville told WBZ that with the store only accepting cash, shopping turned into a nightmare.

"It's chaos," one customer said.

"I waited about a half hour to buy two items and the lines are all the way wrapped down the aisles," another customer said.

At 6:40 p.m. Wednesday evening, a spokesperson for Market Basket said the issue had been fixed at all stores.

"All Market Basket stores are now fully operational. We again apologize to our valued customers for the inconvenience and express our appreciation for their patience as worked through this situation today.
