BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — State Police say a man is dead after trying to cross the Southeast Expressway near the South Bay Center on Saturday night.

The accident happened at about 9:30 p.m. Police said the man managed to get across the southbound side of I-93 and the median, but was hit by a passing SUV right when he got to the northbound side.

The man didn't have any ID on him, but the Suffolk County DA's office said he was eventually identified as a 49-year-old man who would be named after his family was notified.

The driver of the SUV called 911 right after hitting the man. State Police said there was no indication of wrongdoing on his part as of now, and no charges have been filed.

State Police and other local agencies are still investigating.
