BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man was seriously hurt after being struck by a vehicle in South Boston early Thursday morning, Massachusetts State Police said.
State police said troopers responded just before 2:30 a.m. to a report of a male pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Columbia Road at the Exit 14 ramp from Interstate 93 north.
The victim, approximately 30 years old, was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries but is expected to survive, according to police.
Investigators indicated that the victim was walking across Columbia Road as two vehicles, described as a red sedan and a white SUV, were eastbound on the same road. The red sedan, possibly a Honda Accord with dual tail pipes, struck the pedestrian, sending him through the air and further across the road, said police.
State police said the driver of the red sedan immediately fled the scene. The white SUV also left the scene.
