MANCHESTER, N.H (WBZ NewsRadio) — With November in the rearview mirror, Santa is getting a lot of business this time of year. Bill Greenleaf runs ImSanta.org, and has a network of Santas who spread Christmas cheer for hire during the season.

Greenleaf said he's heard of a Santa shortage — three of his workers aren't working due to COVID — but he said the bigger factor this year is demand.

"There's more and more companies that are bringing Santa in as an attraction to their business, wanting Santa for longer periods," he said, with the highest demand coming on every weekend day.

Greenleaf says it's certainly an improvement over last year, where he spent much of his time social distancing and behind face shields.

It's not just here in New England: headlines about a huge demand (and short supply) of Santas have been popping up across the nation. Other Christmas essentials will also cost you a pretty penny this year, including the family Christmas tree.
