BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) —The phone number listed for Massachusetts Central University rings, but no one ever answers.
That’s because it’s being called a scam as there’s no such of Massachusetts Central University.
On its website, the school claims to be ‘a prominent distance learning university offering accredited degree programs for students …’ with thousands of undergraduates.
But it doesn’t have any students or degrees and the address it gives is actually the real address of UMass Boston on Morrissey Blvd. in Boston.
A UMass Boston official says the school is aware of the fake university and has dealt with it in the past while a student said the school looked legitimate.
“I don’t understand how they can get away with it,” she said. “That’s the first thing I can think of.”
