Person In Custody After Heavy Police Presence At Melrose Home

MELROSE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A person is in custody after an incident at a home in Melrose Saturday afternoon, authorities said.

Melrose Police advised the public around 1:00 a.m. about a heavy police presence in the area of Sylvan Street between Lebanon Street and Linwood Avenue.

Police said the situation was isolated to a particular residence and told residents to avoid the area, while shutting down parts of Sylvan Street.

Officials did not say what the incident was about, or if anyone had been hurt.

About an hour later, police said they had a subject in custody and the scene was "secure, safe, and traffic will be reopened."

"There will be some police activity in the area for some follow up investigation," Melrose Police said.
