Petition Asking Gov. Baker To Allow 'Soft' Open Of Hair Salons

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — An online petition is calling on Gov. Charlie Baker to allow for a "soft opening" of hair salons amid the coronavirus crisis.

The petition was posted on MoveOn.org.

All salons, as well as other physical locations of non-essential businesses in the state, are closed until May 4 under Gov. Baker's order.

The petition is asking for salons to open one client at a time, starting on April 27.

"All necessary precautions and sanitation protocols will be taken approved by the state of Massachusetts and the local Board of Health will be followed," the petition said. "Our industry needs to be recognized and deemed as an essential business so we can better serve our community. "

The petition has more than 6,300 signatures.
