HOPKINTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A local animal shelter launched a social media campaign to help two star-crossed lovers get adopted together.

Mumble and Lola are two pit bulls that came into the Baypath Humane Society together after their owner surrendered them due to financial issues. Since then, these two have remained a signature duo at the shelter.

“They have been raised together and they came in together,” said Manager Nikki Baltas. “They just love each other.”

So the shelter staff decided to host a mock wedding to help the pit bulls get adopted together.

“Lola had a pink wedding dress, Mumble had a nice tie,” Baltas explained. Shelter staff officiated the ceremony and even got other dogs involved, including a “best man, maid of honor, a flower girl and ring boy.”

Volunteers even made wedding cakes for the pooches’ party. Now the happy couple is hoping to spend their honeymoon in their forever home. Anyone interested in adopting or fostering the newlyweds can contact the shelter.
