Plane, Carrying American Evacuees From China, Lands In Alaska

(WBZ NewsRadio) — A charter plane carrying more than 200 American evacuees from Wuhan, China — the place at the middle of the coronavirus outbreak — landed in Anchorage, Alaska Tuesday night.

The New York Times reports the plane landed around 9:30 p.m. It stopped to be refueled in Anchorage before flying to its final destination, a military base in Southern California.

Passengers are being screened for the coronavirus at the airport in Alaska before they are cleared to re-board the plane. If they should any symptoms of the deadly virus, they will undergo further medical evaluation.

Precautions are being taken across the United States in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak that left more than 130 people dead in China.

Screenings for the virus are expected to begin soon at Boston Logan International Airport.
