PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The days of 13 and 14-year-olds riding e-bikes around Plymouth might be over.
Leaders in Plymouth are considering new regulations regarding e-bikes in the town. Residents in the area have issued several complaints regarding the motorized bicycles roaming around.
"This group of kids came to like the side of my car once. It was just like weird," Laura of Plymouth said. "So like that was annoying because I was scared that I was going to turn and they were going to go and like you know I'd hit them on accident."

At a recent board meeting, town leaders discussed a proposal requiring registration of e-bikes with the town. The new guidelines could raise the age of drivers to 16 and a half with a driver's license or 18 without one. Violators of the new restrictions will face a fine. Laura said she supports the potential proposal.
"Because they don't know what they are doing," Laura stated.
The proposals come after several reports of teens being injured while riding on the e-bikes. The bike operators have been accused of riding on the sidewalk, modifying the bikes to go faster and not wearing helmets.
