PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Residents at Plymouth's Tall Pines Road are up in arms over a proposed horseracing and gambling track that could potentially be constructed on a parcel of land near their neighborhood.
The property, known as the County Wood Lot, stretches from off Camelot Drive to Tall Pines Road.
Boston-based developer Boston South Real Estate and Development Group LLC is on the verge of an agreement with Plymouth County to hold the land for three years as they develop plans for the site. Boston South would pay the County a total of $450,000 in annual lease payments during that time. The lease will not be signed until late June.
Neighborhood residents are not happy over the idea of a horse track near their homes.
"This is a nice, quiet, family neighborhood and to put a gambling horse track here is just absurd," said Stephanie, who lives on Tall Pines Road.
Stephanie and other residents are already taking action by "talking via text and trying to spread the word out on Facebook too."
A town forum with Boston South is taking place Tuesday, April 26 at Memorial Hall.
