PLYMOUTH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — After serving customers in Plymouth for decades, the White Horse General Store closed its doors for good on Monday.
Dozens of well-wishers stopped by to wish owner Franny Kuhn the best and to enjoy some treats and a retirement party once the clock hit 5 p.m.
Much more than just a store selling everything from lottery tickets to homemade honey, people said the White Horse was a community meeting place where locals would catch up and talk over a cup of coffee.
While Kuhn has been the owner of the White Horse Beach staple for 40 years, the store has been doing business for almost a century.
Surrounded by his family, Franny said, it's time. "I'm going to retire and spend time with my grandchildren."
