Police Arrest Hyannis Man Who Allegedly Threatened School Shooting Online

HYANNIS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Barnstable Police Department announced on Sunday that a man has been arrested in connection to threats made on social media to commit a school shooting at an unnamed location.

On Saturday, police arrested 29-year-old Justin Moreira of Hyannis after the BPD and Yarmouth Police Department received numerous reports of a threatening Facebook post. Barnstable officials brought Moreira into custody at his residence, and say that after a search warrant was issued, no firearms were located at that time.

Police say Moreira was charged with Making Terroristic Threats and was ordered to be held without bail. He is scheduled for arraignment at Barnstable District Court on June 1.

Officials urged residents with any related information to the case to contact the authorities.
