Police Investigate An Explosion At Harvard Medical School

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — An investigation is underway at Harvard Medical School after an explosion on campus early Saturday morning.

The Harvard University Police Department said around 2:48 a.m., an officer responded to a fire alarm report at the Goldenson building at 220 Longwood Ave. in Boston.

HUPD says the officer saw two people fleeing the scene, and tried to catch them without success.

While sweeping the building, the officer found evidence of an explosion on the fourth floor. No other devices were found.

In a statement to WBZ NewsRadio, a spokesperson for the university said the Boston Fire Department's Arson Unit reported the explosion appears to be intentional.

No one was injured.

Police released photos of the two suspects Saturday afternoon.

Harvard University Police are investigating this incident with cooperation from local, state, and federal law enforcement.
