METHUEN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Early Saturday morning, the Methuen Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Gage Street area of the city.
First responders located a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, and treated him on scene with Emergency Medical Technicians and Methuen Fire Department personnel. The victim was taken to the Holy Family via ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The Essex County District Attorney's Office said in a statement to WBZ NewsRadio that they're conducting an investigation with the MPD and the Essex County State Police Detective Unit. Preliminary investigation indicates this incident is not a random act of violence and that there is no ongoing threat to the public's safety, officials said.
