Police Investigating Fatal Stabbing Inside Fall River Rooming House

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A man was arrested after a fatal stabbing in a Fall River rooming house Friday night, officials said.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III said Fall River police and paramedics were called to 234 Tripp St. around 9:45 p.m. for a report of a stabbing.

First responders arrived and gave aid to the victim, identified as 44-year-old Joseph Bump. Bump was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead just before 10:30 p.m., Quinn said.

Police arrested the suspect, 42-year-old Pedro Fernando Orellano Alvarado, on scene.

According to officials, Bump and Alvarado were residents of the rooming house.

Alvarado will be arraigned in Fall River District Court on Monday on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Massachusetts State Police and Fall River Police are investigating the incident, officials said.
