REVERE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police are investigating the remains of a female infant that were found outside an apartment building in Revere Tuesday evening.
The Massachusetts State Police said Revere police officers responded to 86 Dolphin Ave. just after 6:20 p.m., after Isaias Anibal discovered the remains in a garbage bag next to the trash.
"I'm thinking, wow how do people do that," Anibal told WBZ-TV.
The State Police Detective Unit for Suffolk County, Revere police detectives, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section arrived on scene to investigate.
Detectives went door to door interviewing neighbors about what they have seen and if they have any home surveillance footage that can help figure out what happened.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner took custody of the remains and determined them to be those of a female infant, who was at or close to full-term, and who likely was white or light skinned, State Police officials said.
A determination of the cause and manner of her death is pending the results of the ongoing investigation by Massachusetts State Police and Revere Police.
