Suspect Not Found After Police Pursuit Shuts Down Roads Near Medford Church

MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Roads surrounding the St. Clement Church in Medford were closed down early Thursday morning as police pursued a suspect possibly connected to an armed robbery attempt at a convenience store in Cambridge.

Authorities first found the suspect in Somervillle. There was a brief struggled before the suspect fled to an area near the Medford church. Police believed the suspect went into the church. They found its door open with wet foot prints inside.

After searching the church, authorities did not find the suspect inside. The suspect has yet to be located.

Earlier, police responded to reports of a possible armed robbery attempt at a 7-11 in Cambridge. Investigators are trying to determine if the two incidents are related.

The police operation was over as of 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning, the police department announced.
