METHUEN, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — Authorities in Methuen are looking for a suspect in a break-in which prompted a massive police response in their city Tuesday.

Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon said Jouseph Caraballo, 44 is wanted and is expected to be charged with: breaking and entering, larceny over $250, possession of burglarious tools.

Around 7 a.m. Police were called to Rooming House at 91 Broadway, where Caraballo also lives in, for a report of a break-in.

Solomon says that they have surveillance video showing Caraballo using tools to break into an apartment leaving with stolen items.

This prompted authorities to close Broadway St from Brown Street to Center Street for several hours as a SWAT team searched the building’s 38 units for Caraballo.

Gonzales was arrested on outstanding warrants.

Solomon says this address is familiar to officers. A SWAT team had removed fentanyl from the Boarding house 10 days ago

“We are continuing to work with our law enforcement partners and exercising all available resources to locate this individual and take him into custody,” Chief Solomon said.

Anyone who believes they know Caraballo is asked call Methuen Police at 978-983-8698 but not to approach Caraballo themselves.
