Police: Man In Salem Crash Rolls Over And Tells Officers He Was On Phone

SALEM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Salem Police said two people were hurt in an early morning crash on Sunday that left one car completely upside-down.

Officers responded to the call on Lafayette Street at 2:00 AM on Sunday, and found a car sitting on its roof, and another nearby with accident damage.

The driver of the upside-down car, identified by police as a 23-year-old from Peabody, told officers that he was looking at his phone when the accident happened.

Two people from the second car were both injured and were taken to North Shore Medical Center to be examined.

Police have not announced charges for the man, and said they are still investigating the crash.
