Boston Police Officer Shot, Suspect Dead

 

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A Boston Police Officer is shot and a suspect is dead after a routine traffic stop in Roxbury this morning.

Two Boston officers were conducting the stop near 102 Gerard Street just after 2:00am when the suspect exchanged "several rounds" with the officers, resulting in one being shot.

Described as a male in his mid-to-late 30s, the suspect fled the scene and was later found dead in his vehicle at 90 George Street. A gun was found in his vehicle.

The officer, who has served on the force for two years, is recovering from non-life threatening injuries at Boston Medical Center.
