FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A temporary drive-in movie theater is opening right next to Gillette Stadium.
New and classic movies will be shown at the theater, which is the joint effort between Showcase Cinema De Lux and Patriot Place.
Mark Malinowski is the Vice President of Global Marketing for Showcase. He told WBZ NewsRadio's James Rojas that this throwback experience will bring back the enjoyment of going to the movies.
"We want this to be our first step towards movie-going," Malinowski said. "Having people come back and enjoy a movie in a way that they can enjoy it together."
The outside cinema's inaugural film set for Saturday is the first in the Indiana Jones series, Raiders of the Lost Ark. It sold out within 24 hours.
"All ticket proceeds are going to benefit the Foxborough Food Pantry," Malinowski said.
The next few Fridays in June will feature newer releases, such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Onward.
