BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Fajitas & ‘Ritas is closing its doors after 35 years in business. The popular Tex-Mex restaurant near the Boston Common has been a staple of night outs long before schools like Emerson College and Suffolk University expanded into the area.
Owner Brad Fredericks said he has been overwhelmed by the support he has seen from the community since he made the announcement.
“Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights typically not that many people would be around but there’s been lines down the street,” he said.
Fredericks added that some old customers even came back to sit at their table, remember first dates, and just to experience it one last time.

“It made [me] feel good that we made a difference,” he said.
Fredericks said it was his landlord's decision to not renew the lease. WBZ NewsRadio has reached out to the landlord for comment, but has not heard back.
Some Fajitas & 'Ritas employees have already started new jobs at some of the other restaurants that Fredericks owns.
Fajitas & ‘Ritas will close on Saturday night.
