BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Almost a year after it was named the dinosaur of Massachusetts, dozens of student-drawn pictures of the Podokesaurus holyokensis line the walls on the fourth floor of the State House.

WBZ's Carl Stevens spoke to one artist with work on the wall, eighth grader Emelia Leavitt of Taunton, who traveled to Beacon Hill to see her creation on display.

"I drew one in sixth grade and my art teacher sent it in and I got a letter saying it's in the State House— so we went to check it out," Leavitt said.

The whole family made the trip there, including Emelia's mom who said she couldn't be prouder.

"Oh my gosh, I'm sweating, I feel like it's me up there I'm so excited for her. I'm at a loss for words," she said.

Last year former Governor Charlie Baker signed an act into law officially making the Podokesaurus holyokensis the official dinosaur of the state it used to roam some five million years ago.
