NANTUCKET, Massachusetts (WBZ NewsRadio)Nantucket is preparing for a presidential visit on this Thanksgiving holiday.

President Biden and his family have spent Thanksgiving on Nantucket the past 40 years except for reportedly two times, when their son Beau died in 2015, and in 2020 during the COVID pandemic.

While there has been no official word from the White House on the visit, Nantucket Memorial Airport has issued a temporary flight restriction this week, which is an indication of a pending presidential visit.

There is also word that White House staff and supplies have been arriving on the island.

The Biden's family tradition of spending Thanksgiving on Nantucket stretches back 4 decades.

In fact, U.S. presidents and their families have shown an affinity for spending time on Cape Cod and the islands including the Kennedys, the Obamas, and the Clinton family.

Ulysses S. Grant is said to have visited Nantucket back in the summer of 1874.
