SOMERSET, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, a day after flying to Massachusetts with a group of local politicians.

The White House said the President tested positive on a routine COVID-19 test on Thursday morning, and that he was experiencing mild symptoms like fatigue and a runny nose.

A group of Massachusetts politicians traveled to Massachusetts with the President on Wednesday for an announcement on climate change initiatives in Somerset.

Among them were Senators Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren, Representatives Jake Auchincloss and Bill Keating, and US Climate Envoy John Kerry.

There has been no word if those who were on the plane also have COVID.

The White House says President Biden has begin taking the therapeutic Paxlovid and will carry out his meetings by phone and virtually.
