Prince Philip And Queen Elizabeth II Visited Boston In 1976

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Prince Philip, who died on Friday at 99, visited Boston in 1976 as a part of the U.S. bicentennial celebration.

On July 11, 1976, he and the queen came to the city and met with Boston Mayor Kevin White and Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis.

The couple visited city hall, the Old State House, the Old North Church, and the USS Constitution.

To commemorate Prince Philip's life, Boston City Archives shared the original photo of the couple at the United States' Bicentennial:

Another time the prince was seen in Boston was in 1992 for the Tall Ships celebration.
