DEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — As the jury deliberates in the Karen Read murder trial, Read’s supporters are out in full force just a few steps away.

As the trial has continued, more and more people have come out to support Read as she faces multiple charges, including second degree murder. Many of the protestors are dressed in pink, some with signs in favor of a not guilty verdict.

Gail from Canton, Mass. said she helped start this movement and has spent much of the last few months outside Norfolk Superior Court.

“Excitement’s high and the nervousness is high and everything’s high. We’re on the edge of our seat waiting for a decision to be made,” said Gail.

Despite some people saying the protests are tasteless given the tragedy, Gail said she wants justice for Read.

“We’re not doing this to make a laugh. This is not a circus. We’re showing our joy, we’re showing our commitment, we’re showing our belief,” said Gail.

High school student Joe from Weymouth, Mass. was also outside the courthouse. He said he was going to class with an earbud streaming the trial.

“We’re standing up against corruption and tyranny and we want to find justice for John O’Keefe. We want to find answers,” said Joe.

WBZ NewsRadio will carry the verdict live when the jurors reach their decision.
