BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Protesters gathered outside of Cambridge City Hall on Saturday to demand weapon manufacturer Elbit leave the city.

More than 100 people held signs and chanted for Israel’s largest privately owned weapons developer Elbit to leave the city. Protesters in England have chained themselves to Elbit properties, but organizers in Cambridge tried a different tactic.

“We’re coming together as a community in a way where we’re a little bit softer and slower and we feel joy. That’s another really important part of fighting companies that are killing people,” said one of the event organizers.

A few dozen marched to the Elbit building, which was only a few blocks away from Cambridge City Hall, continuing the calls for the company’s removal.

“We think it’s egregious that this city is allowing a company that is murdering Palestinians and bragging about it. In their own words, they say battle-proven,” said one of the event organizers.

“There are over 18,000 civilians that have been killed by the Israeli government and we’re standing with those civilians, those people, who through no fault of their own happen to be in the way of Israeli bombs,” said a woman joining the protest.

WBZ NewsRadio reached out to Elbit for comment. They say they have no comment at this time.
