BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — After more than 54 years in business, two Boston icons are closing. The owner of Top of the Hub and the Skywalk Observatory has announced the last day of operations for both is April 18th, 2020, according to the Boston Globe.

Select Restaurants, Inc. pins the closure on the non-renewal of their lease by the owners of The Prudential Tower.

Boston Properties Inc, who own the tower, says it is planning a new design for an observatory that will provide "a world-class visitor experience." More than 200 employees will lose their jobs as a result of the closures.

Since it opened in 1965, Top of the Hub has been the location of countless proposals and celebrations with a dramatic, if not pricey, panoramic view of the city.
