QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio)Popular delivery apps have some competition when it comes to restaurants in Quincy.

Quincy Eats is an app that focuses on local fare, without all the added fees that come with services like DoorDash or UberEats

Mike Palmer, a life-long Quincy resident, was inspired to create something during the pandemic, combining his passion for software and for local restaurants.

“When COVID hit I basically was just making a directory app,” Palmer said.

But eventually, his creation grew into more.

“I just started delivering. Let's just try it out and see what happens,” Palmer said. ““When I first started I was literally giving it for free.”

Palmer partners with local restaurants for the app, like Craig’s Cafe, Alumni Pizza and Coffee Break Cafe.

“Everything we do is trying to give more tools to the restaurant,” Palmer said.
