QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A request from the Granite Links Golf Club to the City of Quincy has been met with some saying prior commitments made weren't seen all the way through.
The golf club is looking to expand its amenities on its 150-acre property including parking. GLGC Vice President Will O'Connell told WBZ's Kim Tunnicliffe that they're asking the City of Quincy for a 100-year lease extension to show banks they'll still be around well into the future.
"One of the biggest asks with every wedding we have [is] 'how do you not have a hotel?'" O'Connell said.

Meantime, the non-profit organization Friends of the Blue Hills is alleging the golf club never carried out a 25-year-old promise to connect its golf course to the Blue Hills Reservation via walking trails, specifically a trail that cuts directly across the greens.
Golf club staff say they already carved 17 walking trails around the property, including one that connects to the Blue Hills, though it was acknowledged that the signage pointing out those trails could be improved upon.
"Some of signs 100 percent should be updated and made bigger," O'Connell said.
Though the request for a trail that crosses the course is one that Granite Links General Manager Walter Hannon says is impossible.
"Our insurance carrier will not allow us— we're not going to wake up some morning and have a five-year-old little girl get hit in the head with a golf ball and be killed," Hannon said.
