QUINCY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Quincy residents lined the streets for the city's 72nd annual Christmas parade Sunday.

Thousands of people watched the procession of parade floats, marching bands, Santa Claus, the Grinch, and more go by, and everyone had a favorite part.

"She loves seeing Santa come in on the firetruck," one woman said of her daughter. "That’s definitely the highlight at the end."

"I like seeing all the bands," another attendee told WBZ NewsRadio.

"My favorite memory are [sic] the ones I’m making right now with my children," a man said. "So [being] able to hand off that tradition to the next generation is really cool."

Gray skies, cold temperatures, and even a little rain could not dampen people's spirits.

"I just think it’s a really nice way to start the holiday season, and it’s a fun parade that brings out floats and bands and people," an attendee said. "Just a great way to get the holiday season."

The parade also served as a coda for Quincy's yearlong 400th birthday celebrations.

"The city this year has done so much to celebrate 400 years," said one resident. "Not too many cities get to do that. This is a great way to really capstone this wonderful celebration of our nation’s history."

WBZ's Kyle Bray reports.
