BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Post-tropical cyclone Lee arrived in New England late Friday evening into Saturday morning, bringing rain, strong winds, rough surf, dangerous rip currents, and beach erosion to the area.

While the Cape and Islands were hit the hardest during the storm, with bands of heavy rain and wind gusts ranging from 50 to 60 miles per hour, Boston received a comparatively small amount of bad weather.

WBZ NewsRadio spoke to residents at Carson Beach in South Boston to get their reactions to the storm.

"This is pretty small, so I think we’re good," one person said.

"A nothing burger," described Michael, who was out walking his dog on the beach. "To me, it’s an enjoyable day. Keeps people inside, it’s less crowded, and I go out and I enjoy it."

Meanwhile James, who plays for the Boston Demons in the United States Australian Football League, was getting ready for practice across the street at Joe Moakley Park. As someone used to the rugged nature of the game, he wasn't going to let a little bad weather stop him.

"We got nationals coming up in about four weeks, so we’re getting ready," James said.

WBZ's Suzanne Sausville (@WBZSausville) reports.
